• To raise awareness and confidence in
training staff, to deal with issues arising within classes
or the workplace.
• To clarify and define; Cross Dressing / Drag
Kings and Queens, Transvestite / Transsexual / Transgendered
people.
• To enable participants to understand the reasons
why the above are commonly associated with the Gay Community.
• To enable participants to understand the medical
dimensions of Genderdysphoria in relation to Transsexual
/ Transgendered people.
• To look at issues around 'Transition' in the
medical treatment of Transsexual / Transgendered people.
To explore the impact this has on their day to day lives.
• To examine social attitudes to Transsexual
/ Transgendered people, and the difficulties they experience
which can lead to Hate Crime.
• With reference to all of the above to look
at issues for the workplace.
Rationale for the course.
• Developing understanding of these issues will
enable trainers to train employees to provide a more effective
service to this section of the community.
• New directives will increase the likelihood
of tribunal cases on these issues. Proactively providing
training on these issues reduces the likelihood of this
happening.
