A one or two day course that complements Equal Opportunities
training and
Cultural Awareness work.
Diversity Training is not just another word for Equal
Opportunities. With the Diversity approach training looks
not just at getting it right for select groups, but for
all of us, whatever communities we are from.
The Diversity model works with us as individuals, rather
than as members of particular groups, in the work place.
Training enables participants to either develop, or add
to, skills and awareness and does this in a way that helps
people to feel valued and part of the solution rather
than the problem. We don't believe that guilt and fear
are effective teaching tools!
• To have a greater awareness
of how our own cultural/social backgrounds create the
windows through which we look at the world.
• To explore the consequences of seeing
the world only from our own perspectives.
• To move towards a greater understanding of
the variety of needs of our colleagues and clients and
of how it feels to be on the outside.
• To look at the process of becoming more inclusive
and accessible as an organisation and to raise awareness
of our personal contribution to that process.
• To deepen understanding and confidence in dealing
with some of the difficulties that arise around difference.
• To start to explore some of the ways and means
that enable us to communicate respect for difference effectively
within our organisations.
• To have a clearer sense of the implications
of the Diversity model on our roles as professionals.
